Ro Hardaker (they/she) is an artist working across performance, noise, writing and video.
Hardaker appropriates both the collaborative and combative strategies of protest, full contact sports, and singing, gesturing beyond the condition of existence as labour power with both political rhetoric and magical ambiguity. They seek fleshy vocabularies with a deliberate slowness, studying haptic configurations of the body and putting questions of safety and intimacy first. Their work makes clear the current threats to queer life, producing instances in which language and violence are extracted and redistributed as intense affective encounters.
Hardaker has an MA in Contemporary Art Practice from the royal college of art. They are currently an associate artist at The Tetley Gallery.
